Who wants to think about snowflakes and warm woolly mittens yet? Not I, but do so I must. Except for these few days, this fall has arrived in crisp early fashion, and already gloves have taken the bite out of the frigid steering wheel in the morning. So, I rounded up the winter wear items that didn't quite get properly put away in the spring (due to the third trimester bump and all that goes with it), washed them again to be sure (I think I at least did that in the spring) and filed them in the shoe organizer purchased for a purpose such as this.
Then I recalled that appropriate mittens could not always be located without my assistance by my husband and son. Must be similar to the "unable to locate items in the refrigerator" syndrome...
So, I decided to make myself available to them for instant locating assistance - how about delegated cubbies and identifiying tags? Out comes the scrapbook paper scraps, trusty circle punch, letters and adhesive.
A few safety pins afix the tags to the shoe organizer.
There you have it. Cute. I am being replaced by a tag (hopefully).
Honestly, though, I have thought this through further and realize that this system will only work when the items have been returned to the cubby. That means that the pick up after wearing, the washing and/or drying when the snowflakes actually arrive, and then getting the mittens back here most likely will still be done by me.
Job security, folks.
(I wouldn't trade it for the world!)
